So I’ve been putting this post off for over a month now because I want it to be perfect.  I feel that I need a lot of time to sit, think, and type to make this say exactly what I’m thinking and feeling about photography at this point in my life and career.  Because I know that I’ll never have the time I need…I am a deep thinker when it comes to sharing my  feelings and emotions…I’ve decided to just sit down and spill from my heart.  If this post seems all over the place, I apologize.  I’m just gonna shoot from the hip and keep it real!

My business is my baby.  It started as a wee little girl, yes I am saying girl because I am a girl and one day when I have a baby I hope its a girl, who has developed into a 20 something adult.  There have been times throughout this journey that I’ve felt my wee little girl wasn’t growing, but patience and small baby steps, it soon took off.  I take this job seriously.  This is how I make a living and help provide for my family…and satisfy my fashion addiction ;) .  But it’s also my outlet for dreaming and creating.  I feel like a new parent, squealing with joy every time something really exciting happens, every time I take another big step.  I’ve been wanting to do a promo video for some time now.  It’s been in the back of my mind from the beginning but until recently I didn’t feel…hmmm…deserving?? I felt like I had to reach a certain point in my journey, to have a certain amount of knowledge, and to have a certain amount of confidence before I was worthy enough to have a video.  Even though there is still much to learn and I believe that every day I’ll continue to, I finally feel that I am at that point.  ”I know what I’m doing, and I am in love with what I’m doing!”  I also want potential clients to be able to meet me and see the real me before they pick up the phone.

The next big step?? Finding a videographer with a style I adored who could capture the feelings and emotions and the “me” I wanted on this video.  I found Jesse of Liquid Vision Films a few months back and instantly feel in love with his work.  I feel like he is the “me” of videography when it comes to capturing the emotion and love between couples.  I’m pretty sure were on the same page.  I cried when I first watched his wedding videos.  I wish I’d have known about him when I’d gotten married.  Lucky for me I was able to snatch he and his camera up for my promo video.  Go and check out his other work by click here.

The day of the shoot was such a blur.  I woke up that morning, flew back to Salt Lake from Omaha, rushed to and from my hotel, and had my makeup professionally done.   I changed outfits 3 times, typical me, and finally settled.  I was so nervous on the drive to meet up with Jesse, I couldn’t even think straight.  Luckily I have the world’s most amazing husband who helped me calm down.  At least until the interview started.  You would think for someone who is constantly meeting complete strangers, competed in singing contests growing up, aced their college speech class, and played the leading lady in Oklahoma her senior year of high school would be totally fine speaking in front of a camera…um…no not at all.  I had to start over, and over, and over, and over…that was the hardest part!  I finally made it through though and from there, the rest of the video was history.  I was doing what I do best and enjoying doing more than anything.  I was creating, laughing, being myself, and doing my job.  Piece of cake!  Plus I had 3 other fabulous individuals there to help make me look good.  A huge “THANKS” to Rory and Jeanine for filling in as my models that day.  The two of you are fabulous together and seem so in love.  I couldn’t have asked for a nicer couple.  The other person, my husband Tony.  Having him in my video was my number 1 priority.  I seriously would not be following this dream if it weren’t for him.  I went for a year without touching a camera back in 2006/2007 and it was he who pushed me to pick it up again, he who surprised me with my first DSLR for Christmas.  He helps me make super important decisions, gets everything together at tax time, jumps up and down with me when something really exciting happens, and pushes me to get better and keep growing.  I am forever thankful for him as a husband and a business partner….one day we’ll be shooting together, its coming I promise.

Having the 3 of them there, as well as Jesse, was so humbling.  Two years of hard work and here I was in one of the most exciting moments of my career.  With 4 other people there for me…helping me make it happen.  I am seriously so blessed.  So lucky. And so happy. A day doesn’t go by that I wonder what I have done to deserve this.  I seriously would be selfish to ask for anything more.

Thank you so much Jesse Felter for bringing my dream and vision to life.  You are amazingly talented and so easy to work with.  I hope to shoot a wedding together with you some day and I know that I’ll be hiring you again in the future.  Thank you, thank you, thank you again!  Also, I wanted to say thank you to all of my past and present clients. You hiring me, pushes me to continue to grow and get better.  Thank you for trusting and believing in me.  I love you all from the bottom of my heart!

Without further ado, check out my video!

Happiness,

Amy
